Honda Finally Has A Launch Date For Its Entry-level ADV

The Japanese bikemaker has also put out a teaser video

Honda NX200

Not long ago, we told you Honda has trademarked the name NX200, probably for a Hornet 2.0-based affordable ADV bike. Last month, we got you exclusive news that  Honda India will launch a new ADV bike in August now, Honda has officially teased the motorcycle which will be launched on August 19, 2021.

The teaser isn’t very informative, but it does give away some interesting details about the NX200 (likely to be called). Firstly, the headlamp is identical to the LED unit on the Hornet 2.0, meaning this is indeed based on the naked motorcycle. However, here the headlamp is mounted on the fairing.

Secondly, we can see the upright riding stance and smoked visor up front, which hints at the bike’s touring capabilities. The video also shows the handguard-mounted LED indicators.

A silhouette of the motorcycle also shows the tall USD fork up front, likely aimed to enhance its off-road abilities. You can also catch a glimpse of the mild off-road spec tyres and bash plate.

All this aside, we think the NX200 would continue to employ the same 184cc single-cylinder motor from the Hornet 2.0 without any tweaks. For reference, the Hornet 2.0 puts out 17.2PS and 16.1Nm.

What remains to be seen is how Honda prices the NX200, since competitive pricing has been an Achilles’ heel for the Japanese manufacturer. We reckon around Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom) would be a good price.. But before you get your hopes too high, we think the Honda NX200 is more of a mild off-roader rather than an outright one like the Hero Xpulse 200.
