If you’re an off-road enthusiast with no budget restrictions, Kawasaki has launched the perfect bikes for you: the 2022 KX250 and the KX450. Remember, these aren’t road-legal motorcycles, and they’re purposely built to take your motocross skills to new heights.

What’s The Price? Who Are Their Rivals?

The 2022 KX250 and KX450 are priced at Rs 7,99,000 and Rs 8,59,000 (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively. This means the two are, in the same order, Rs 56,000 and Rs 80,000 costlier than the older models.

At this price, the KX250 and KX450 are in the crosshairs of some potent, road-going motorcycles like the Ducati Scrambler 800, Kawasaki Z900, and the Honda CB650R. However, none of these offer a motocross experience like the KX twins.

The KX250 and KX450 have always been potent motorcycles, and they’ve only gotten better with this update. Talking about the KX250 first, Kawasaki claims to have extracted 1.4PS more from the 249cc single-cylinder motor by tweaking the intake and exhaust ports and upping the rev ceiling.

The ‘22 KX250 also gets revised underpinnings. While the fully adjustable 48mm USD fork remains as is, it gets a new Uni Trak fully adjustable setup at the rear. Additionally, the fuel tank and its shrouds have been redesigned. The bike now tips the scales at 107.3kg, 3kg more than before.

Moving on to the larger KX450, it has remained more or less unchanged. At the heart lies the same 449cc single-cylinder motor featuring finger-follower valve actuation, electric start, and a hydraulic clutch mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Much like the 250, updates to the KX450 are mostly to the underpinnings. It now gets a bigger rear disc brake (250mm) and a larger front axle shaft (22mm).

In addition to these, both bikes also pack launch control mode, three engine maps, and Kawasaki’s Ergo Fit adjustable handle and footpegs for more adjustability.
